Square / Rectangle Lawns
For simple square or rectangular gardens, measuring is easy.

Measure the width and length of the area in meters.

Multiply these two numbers to get the total area in square meters.
Example:
Width = 4 m, Length = 6 m
4 × 6 = 24 m²
Round Lawns
For circular lawns:

Measure the diameter (the widest point across the circle) in meters.

Round this measurement up to the nearest even number to be safe.
This ensures you have enough grass to fully cover the circle without gaps.
Angled Lawns
For irregular, angled spaces:

Measure the widest point for the width.

Measure the longest point for the length.

Multiply these two numbers for an estimated area.
This method builds in a little extra to account for the angles.
L-Shaped Lawns
For L-shaped gardens:

Split the space into two rectangles.

Measure the width and length of each section.

Multiply each pair of measurements to find the area of both sections.

Add the two areas together for the total square meterage.
Example:
Section 1: 3 m × 4 m = 12 m²
Section 2: 2 m × 5 m = 10 m²
Total = 22 m²

Always double-check your measurements and consider ordering an extra 5–10%. This allows for trimming and shaping around paths, beds, and borders so you won’t run short.
