You can put artificial grass down on just about any surface, including an existing lawn, a decked patio or hard-concreted areas. Wherever you install it, make sure the drainage is good and check out our installation guide page beforehand.
We’d recommend sticking to one thickness of artificial grass in one area. Different thicknesses can have slight variations in colour that might show up and spoil the look of your grass.
Keeping artificial grass clean is simple. You’ll find all you need to know on our maintenance page.
Yes. Artificial grass is perfectly safe for both children and pets. Softer, well-cushioned grasses are ideal for kids who like to play outside regularly. Any mess made by animals can be picked up in the usual way and/or washed off with warm water.
Sometimes weeds and plants can poke up through the membrane under artificial grass, particularly if it’s not fitted properly. We’d recommend treating the area thoroughly with weed killer before you lay the artificial grass and then twice a year after that.
The easiest way is to measure the width and length of the area you want to cover with artificial grass, multiply them together and write your measurements down. Make sure you use the widest and longest points of the area. It’s better to buy too much and cut bits away rather than having to buy more you need to stick together.
The two things to consider when buying artificial grass are the pile and colour. Before you install your artificial grass, spread it out to see which way you like the pile and colour of the grass the most, and make sure you fit all your rolls that way.
If you know you need more than one piece of grass that’ll need to be joined together, just tell us when you order, and we’ll do our best to try and match them by cutting them off the same roll. However, we can’t guarantee they’ll be an exact match as variations naturally happen.
We’re a supply only business as this helps us keep our prices low. However, you’ll find all you need to know about fitting your artificial lawn in our handy installation guide. If you’re not confident about doing it yourself, we’d suggest finding a local fitter who can help. Organisations like the British Association of Landscape Industries might come in useful for this.
Most artificial grass has a porous backing and will drain naturally, but it’s worth preparing the surface under your artificial grass properly beforehand, so it drains well too. Our installation guide tells how to do this.
It does, but very gradually. Our artificial grass ranges are all UV stabilised and are guaranteed to keep their colour for at least 5 years.
